The Raiders emerged victorious to the tune of 42-15 in a must-have game against the Wildcats.
Up next, Habersham Central will travel to Snellville to play Shiloh in the final game of the season.
Apalachee will finalize its season at North Forsyth.
RABUN COUNTY (7-3, 1-2 8-A D1) AT COMMERCE (9-1, 3-0 8-A D1)
The Wildcats fell for a third time this season in a 23-17 result that saw the Tigers have to force overtime in order to sneak out with the win.
Both teams’ regular seasons are over. Commerce finishes as the No. 1 seed in Region 8-A Division I, while Rabun County finishes third. Both teams will await next week’s results to see which team they’ll draw from Region 5 for the first round of the playoffs.
STEPHENS COUNTY (9-0, 4-0 8-AAA) VS OCONEE COUNTY (3-6, 2-2 8-AAA)
The Indians squeaked by with a 17-14 win against the Warriors, but secured the Region 8-AAA championship.
Stephens County will close its season on the road against Hebron Christian, while Oconee County will host Franklin County.
WHITE COUNTY (4-5, 2-3 7-AAA) VS PICKENS COUNTY (3-6, 2-3 7-AAA)
After a tough quadruple-overtime loss to Lumpkin County a week ago, the Warriors dropped a 39-37 matchup with the Dragons in Cleveland.
White County and Pickens are both in the running for the final two playoff spots in Region 7.
The Warriors will host Gilmer next week, while the Dragons will go on the road to face Wesleyan.
BANKS COUNTY (4-5, 0-4 8-AA) VS FELLOWSHIP CHRISTIAN (7-2, 4-0 7-AA)
The Leopards fell to the Paladins, 21-10, Friday night in Homer.
Banks County is out of the playoff picture and will end its season on the road at Providence Christian, which is still in a battle for a final spot.
Fellowship Christian will host Union County to determine which of the two schools will win the region championship.
FRANKLIN COUNTY (1-8, 0-4 8-AAA) VS MONROE AREA (5-4, 2-2 8-AAA)
The Lions were blanked, 35-0, against the Purple Hurricanes in Carnesville Friday.
Franklin County will end its season at Oconee County, while Monroe Area hosts Hart County.
Seeding in this region will be determined by three games next week.
HART COUNTY (3-5, 2-2 8-AAA) VS HEBRON CHRISTIAN (5-4, 2-2 8-AAA)
The Lions knocked off the Bulldogs 27-0 in Hartwell Friday.
Hart County will travel to Monroe Area to fight for a playoff spot, while Hebron Chrisitan will have to defend home turf against unbeaten Stephens County to get into the playoffs.
ELBERT COUNTY (8-2, 2-1 8-A D1) VS ATHENS CHRISTIAN (0-9, 0-3 8-A D1)
With a 42-0 win over the Eagles, the Blue Devils secured the second seed in Region 8.
Athens Christian will play a non-region game against Mount de Sales Academy next week to close its regular season.
NORTH HALL (7-2, 5-2 8A-AAAA) AT CEDAR SHOALS (4-6, 3-4 8B-AAAA)
The Trojans topped Cedar Shoals 24-14 on Thursday in Athens.
North Hall will host East Forsyth next week as it jockeys for position within the final standings for the playoffs.
Cedar Shoals is eliminated from playoff contention with Thursday’s contest being its last of the 2023 campaign.
EAST HALL (2-7, 1-7 8A-AAAA) VS NORTH OCONEE (9-0, 6-0 8B-AAAA)
The Titans won big over the Vikings with a final score of 70-15 in Gainesville.
North Oconee has already wrapped up the No. 1 seed for Region 8 and will host Cherokee Bluff next week.
East Hall is no longer in the playoff hunt and will finalize its season on the road against Madison County.
WEST HALL (1-8, 0-5 7-AAA) VS WESLEYAN (6-3, 4-1 7-AAA)
The Wolves took care of business, beating the Spartans 49-21 Friday.
West Hall will host Lumpkin County to end its season next week.
Wesleyan will host Pickens to close out the regular season.
JOHNSON (4-5, 1-1 8A-AAAA) VS CLARKSTON (1-8)
The Knights are continuing their resurgence on the football field, this time knocking off the Angoras, 35-6.
Johnson will travel to Midtown next week to finalize its season. Clarkston will host Lakeside in its final game.
GAINESVILLE (9-0, 5-0 8-AAAAAA) AT NORTH FORSYTH (4-5, 3-2 8-AAAAAA)
The Red Elephants continue to roll with a 41-14 dispatching of the Raiders on the road.
Gainesville, having already won the region title, will travel to Jackson County to close out the regular season before trying to get back to the state championship.
North Forsyth will host Apalachee, with a win cementing a third seed.
FLOWERY BRANCH (4-5, 2-3 8-AAAAA) VS LOGANVILLE (5-5, 3-3 8-AAAAA)
The Falcons dropped a close contest, 32-28, to the Red Devils on Friday.
Flowery Branch is still in the hunt for the final playoff spot and will play Heritage (Conyers) to try to get a date with Villa Rica in Round 1.
CHESTATEE (0-9, 0-7 8A-AAAA) AT EAST FORSYTH (6-3, 5-3 8A-AAAA)
The Broncos topped the War Eagles, 51-20, in Gainesville to secure a playoff spot.
East Forsyth will travel to North Hall with playoff seeding on the line.
LAKEVIEW ACADEMY (4-5, 1-2 GIAA 4A/3A Division 4) AT GEORGE WALTON (6-3, 3-0 GIAA 4A/3A Division 4)
The Lions fell short against the Bulldogs in a 28-10 contest Friday.
Lakeview will host Loganville Christian next week, while George Walton will travel to Bethlehem Christian.
LUMPKIN COUNTY (9-0, 5-0 7-AAA) AT DAWSON COUNTY (2-8, 2-4 7-AAA)
The Indians wrapped up the region championship with a 34-23 win over the Tigers in Dawsonville Friday.
Lumpkin County will wrap up its season on the road against West Hall.
