Georgia’s class of 2021 had the highest SAT scores in the nation, and local public and private schools are surpassing the Georgia state average. Both Tallulah Falls School and Habersham Central High School shared impressive SAT scores for this past summer’s graduates.

Tallulah Falls School students surpassed the state and national SAT average, 106 points higher than the state and 145 points higher than the national average. According to a TFS press release, the top 25% of the TFS class of 2021 scored between 1320 and 1550 overall.

“We are delighted to have this affirmation of how prepared TFS students are for future success,” TFS President and Head of School Larry A. Peevy said in the press release. “I’m also proud that 80% of our students represent families who live in the surrounding counties in Northeast Georgia.”

Habersham Central High School ranked highest in public school SAT scores in the Northeast Georgia region and outperformed state and national averages, too. HCHS surpassed the national average by 44 points and the state by 27 points.

“That makes me smile, I’m very proud of that for Habersham County,” HCHS Principal Jonathan Stribling said at a recent board of education meeting. “I will tell you and my colleagues here, […] SAT scores aren’t developed at Habersham Central High School. That doesn’t happen, but [they are] developed in our school system. It starts early and those skills are developed all the way up.”
