Winter storms wreaking havoc across the country are impacting Georgia. Public health departments are warning they may have to reschedule some COVID-19 vaccinations due to delivery delays caused by the weather.
Snowstorms and power outages have interrupted vaccine shipments nationwide. The delay could affect both first and second-dose appointments at area health departments.
District 2 Public Health spokesperson Dave Palmer says those with appointments will get their vaccinations, but may have to wait until more vaccine arrives.
“If your appointment is rescheduled, public health will contact you and give you a new time to come for your COVID-19 vaccination,” explains Palmer. “If you are not contacted, then your appointment will be at the scheduled time.”
Health departments will begin accepting new appointments as soon as scheduled first and second-dose appointments are satisfied and more vaccine is on hand.
