Christmas season has arrived in the Northeast Georgia mountains. Baldwin, Clarkesville, Demorest, Tallulah Falls, and Toccoa are among the towns that have held tree lightings. If you missed them, there are more celebrations for you to enjoy.
On Saturday, December 3, Toccoa will hold its annual Christmas parade. This year’s theme is Parade of Trees. The parade begins at 10 a.m. on Doyle Street and will make its way through the downtown city streets.
Cleveland will hold its popular Christmas in the Mountains Celebration and lighted parade starting at 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 3. Downtown shops will be open, and there will be a Holiday Market set up on the Cleveland Courthouse Square. The lighted parade begins at 7 p.m. at J.P. Nix Elementary School. It will travel east on Highway 115 through the center of town. White County Chamber of Commerce President Beth Truelove says 65 floats signed up to be in this year’s parade, and it will happen, rain or shine.
On Tuesday, December 6, Baldwin will host the annual Habersham County Christmas Parade. The evening will include a Baldwin Christmas Bazaar and a special dedication to fallen Dekalb County Police Officer Edgar Flores, who grew up in Baldwin. The Bazaar will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m., followed by the parade, which starts promptly at 6:30 p.m making its way up Willingham Avenue from Fieldale Farms Corporate headquarters towards Airport Road.
At 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, Mt. Airy will host a Donuts & Pajamas Christmas Party at City Hall. On Saturday, December 10, Mt. Airy Baptist Church will have a live Nativity scene outside City Hall from 5-7 p.m.
Celebrate Christmas in Cornelia from 4-9 p.m. on Saturday, December 10. There will be a holiday market on Hodges Street, food vendors, hayrides through the city’s light display, free photos with Santa, s’mores and more. Businesses will be open late. Check for special discounts.
Also on Saturday, December 10, Dahlonega will host its annual Christmas parade. The parade begins at 11 a.m. on the historic downtown square.
New this year, Clarkesville is hosting a Candlelight Christmas Walk beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 19. The walk will begin at Norton Realty at 855 Washington Street and end in downtown Clarkesville. Listen to carolers at several locations before reaching the square for hot chocolate and more Christmas activities.
