ARDEO’s Howard to lead drug task force in Carrollton

SAC Ken Howard

GBI agent Ken Howard has been on the front lines of the war on drugs in northeast Georgia for years. Since 2014, he’s served as Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office based in Cleveland. Soon, he’ll be leading the charge against drugs on the other side of the state.

The GBI today announced it promoted Howard to Special Agent in Charge of the West Metro Regional Drug Enforcement Office (RDEO) in Carrollton. In his new job, SAC Howard will supervise agents assigned to the unit which serves metro Atlanta and west Georgia. He’ll oversee the administration of criminal investigations and daily office operations.

Howard has been with the GBI for 20 years. During that time he has served as a narcotics agent at the State Drug Task Force where, acting undercover, he infiltrated drug trafficking organizations throughout the state. His subsequent assignments were the Gainesville RDEO, Canton RDEO, Region 8 Field Office, and the Appalachian RDEO.

Before joining the GBI, Howard was an officer with the Brunswick Police Department.
