Habersham County is honoring the contributions of its E911 workers this week. The county commission has proclaimed April 9-15 as Public Safety Telecommunications Week.

Commissioners passed a proclamation in March recognizing the men and women who are “the first and most critical link” between residents and emergency services.

“Communications officers are a vital link for our law enforcement officers, firefighters, first responders, and animal control by providing them with information and ensuring their safety by monitoring their activities by radio,” says county spokesperson Rob Moore.

The proclamation honors E911 workers for their “diligence and professionalism” in keeping the community safe. It also recognizes their substantial contributions to helping apprehend criminals, suppress fires, and treat patients.

“Communications Officers exhibit compassion, understanding, and professionalism while performing their duties,” the proclamation states.
