Apalachee wins region; Habersham places third in 8-AAAAAA volleyball

The Habersham Central Lady Raiders Volleyball Team ended their regular season on Saturday. They beat Lanier in an away conference game at Winder, 2-0, but lost to Apalachee in two straight sets.

The team placed third in Region 8-AAAAAA behind Apalachee and Gainesville.

The Raiders secured a spot in the GHSA State Volleyball Championship earlier in the week and had hoped to win the region prize to claim homecourt advantage in the first round of the playoffs. They’ll open in Acworth, instead.

Habersham Central will take on second-place region 6-AAAAAA finisher Allatoona at Acworth during the first round of the state playoffs on Saturday, October 19.
