Another Hall County school moves online

The Hall County School system is moving another of its schools online due to COVID-19. Students who attend in-person classes at Riverbend Elementary School will switch to online learning beginning Wednesday, December 16.

Riverbend has experienced a significant increase in teacher and staff absences due to quarantine numbers and positive cases of COVID-19. “We are finding it a challenge to adequately staff the building and deliver instruction,” a statement from the school system reads.

“The building will undergo a deep cleaning Tuesday evening and teachers and staff not under quarantine will report to the building on Wednesday to ensure effective delivery of blended instruction,” says Hall County Schools Director of Communications Stan Lewis.

Riverbend is the 21st Hall County school to revert to online learning in the past two weeks following a post-Thanksgiving holiday surge of positive COVID cases. On Monday, the school system announced it was moving all of its high school and middle school students online through the end of this week. Riverbend will also remain online through Friday, December 18.

Hall County Schools will be closed for Christmas and New Year’s Dec. 21-Jan. 1. Students are scheduled to return to class on Jan. 4. The school system will notify parents before the end of the break as to when in-person instruction will resume.

The district encourages all team members, students, and families to remain vigilant by following mitigation practices that minimize the spread of COVD-19.
