Annie Rose Davis, age 90, passed away on Thursday, July 8, 2021.
Annie Rose was born on January 27, 1931, in Sautee Nacoochee, to the late Lester Job Allen and Clara Berrong Allen. Annie graduated from Nacoochee High School and Piedmont College with an education degree. She went on to teach for 40 years with the White County School System. She absolutely loved teaching. Having lifelong relationships and contact with former students brought her much joy. In more recent years, with 4 grandchildren, she became known as our beloved Meme. Meme left some hard shoes to be filled in many ways. One area of expertise that she possessed was in the kitchen. Meme was an outstanding cook and brought joy to many with her meals and especially her desserts. Meme was an active member of Providence Baptist Church for over 55 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirk H. Davis; siblings, Marie Allen McCord, Ethel Allen Stephens, and Arthur Allen.
Survivors include her son, Allen Davis (Roslyn) of Clarkesville; her daughter, Sheila Davis Hall (Steve) of Alpharetta; four grandchildren, Kirk Davis (Lindsay) of Ponte Vedra, FL, Cody Davis of Norcross, Meredith Hall of Brookhaven, Natalie Hall of Athens; sisters, Betty Allen Tatum and Edith Allen Sliger of Clarkesville; cousin (who was more like a sister) Frankie Allen of Helen; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Betty Davis of Dawsonville.
The family extends sincere appreciation for many years of outstanding care to Dr. Shane Bussler and his nurse Candy Lawrence, along with the best God-sent caregivers Kim Smith and Sarah Cross.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, July 11, 2021, at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home – 118 N Brooks Street, Cleveland, GA 30528. Burial will follow the service at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery, 12030 Highway 197 N, Clarkesville, GA. The Rev. Don Drawdy will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
Meme loved bright colors. In honor of her well-lived 90 years, the family requests everyone to wear bright colors to her Celebration of Life. Any of her former students will be welcome to share a fond memory at the service.
