Selah Anderson, a talented player on the Habersham Central Lady Raiders golf team, has signed with Piedmont University to join the Lady Lions golf team this coming academic year.
Anderson, whose parents Tabatha and Jody Anderson both work at Piedmont, is excited to see what Piedmont holds for her future.
“I’m super excited, I love playing golf on a team and I’m just excited to see what the college experience is like and taking that to the next level,” Anderson tells Now Habersham. “I’m most looking forward to making relationships with the girls that are there, and like I said, being on a team, and also getting to play the sport that I love with other girls that share that same love for golf.”
Anderson, her family and coach all noted how important the Lady Raiders have been to one another throughout their high school journey. The six who took home second in the Valhalla tournament this year stayed after school to support their teammate at the signing.
“I am thrilled that she is continuing to play golf and that she’ll be at Piedmont,” says mother Tabatha Anderson, who teaches Nursing at Piedmont University. “I think that it is a fantastic choice for her athletic future as well as her academic future … She is just an amazing kid, and I am so excited to see what the future holds for her.”
Coach Shawn Blackburn recounted some of her achievements over her two years at Habersham Central, which she transferred to from Tallulah Falls, which included helping bring the team to the Georgia State Championship this next week. “She’s brought the team together,” he says. “She’s a great kid.”
