We all know election returns can take a while to process. Well, we’ve processed our own here at Now Habersham and are ready to announce the winners of this year’s #HABoween costume contest.
And the winners are (drum roll please)…
MOST VOTES: Josiah Charles Griffis, 6, of Baldwin, Georgia.
“When I told Josiah that he had won the costume contest, he was all smiles and he said, ‘Wow, I’m super duper excited’,” says Josiah Griffis’ grandmother Donna Rutledge.
Josiah dressed as a Madison County Sheriff’s deputy. He attended Cornelia’s Downtown Trick-or-Treat and had his picture taken with two real-life Habersham County deputies.
“He was so proud to wear the MCSO uniform on Halloween and even more so when the deputies asked to take a picture with him,” Rutledge says. That picture received 154 votes.
Josiah calls himself, ‘JoJo the PoPo’, and tells everyone he meets that he’s going to be an officer just like his Poppa when he grows up.
Rutledge adds, “Thank you to all that ‘liked’ his photo, each one of you had a part in making his day.”
BEST COVID SAFETY COSTUMES: Liam Copeland, 6, and Alaina Copeland, 5, of Homer, Georgia.
“Wow that’s wonderful!,” said Peggy Rutter upon learning her grandchildren won Best COVID Safety Costumes. She submitted the photos of them dressed in their costumes, complete with masks and gloves.
Liam Copeland dressed as Pikachu and his sister Alaina dressed as a bunny rabbit.
“We picked costumes that were comfy yet pandemic friendly,” Rutter explains. Alaina and Liam both attend Tesnatee Gap Elementary school in White County. They were selected as the winners by Now Habersham’s panel of judges that reviewed hundreds of photos that were submitted.
This year’s winning entries will receive $25 VISA gift cards.
Rutter adds, “They can’t wait to buy some toys with the VISA gift card. Thank you Now Habersham!”
