For over a month, Alton Lee Davidson was a wanted man. He no longer is. Acting on a tip from the Alto Police Department, deputies arrested Davidson on May 8 outside a home in Demorest.
Law enforcement had been searching for Davidson since April 4, when he allegedly rammed another vehicle multiple times, causing it to crash in the area of Crane Mill Road at Gainesville Highway. A woman involved in that incident accused Davidson of kidnapping her, although authorities say that was later disproved.
Davidson was on probation when the events of April 4 unfolded. After the crash, he fled the scene. Investigators took out arrest warrants on him, but it wasn’t until an Alto Police officer stopped one of Davidson’s family members in a traffic stop on May 8 that investigators got the break that they needed.
Based on information obtained during the traffic stop, the Alto police officer informed deputies they might find Davidson at 4249 Cannon Bridge Road. Deputies went to that location and found Davidson while searching a small building on the property. They took him into custody without incident.
Deputies charged Davidson with eight felonies including three counts of aggravated assault, three counts of violating his probation, and first-degree criminal damage to property. They also charged him with false imprisonment in connection with an incident on December 30, 2021. The arrest warrant in that case states Davidson “refused to let the victim out of his vehicle when requested, even after the victim called 911.”
Following his arrest, deputies booked Davidson at the Habersham County Detention Center. The magistrate judge denied him bond. He currently remains in jail.
