Alto man charged in weekend incident

An Alto man is in jail on multiple charges after an alleged domestic dispute led to a confrontation with law enforcement at his home over the weekend.

31-year old Kevin Theo Wright is accused of hitting his wife and son and threatening deputies.

According to a press release from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene at 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Upon arriving, Wright’s wife told them her husband was intoxicated and the two of them had been involved in a “physical domestic dispute” which caused her injuries. She also told them her husband struck their 10-year-old son in the face.

“Deputies made contact with Mr. Wright outside the residence while speaking with the victim,” the release states. “Mr. Wright was being uncooperative and made threats to Deputies and went back in the residence.”

The victim alerted deputies that her husband had firearms in the residence and had been shooting earlier in the day. The Habersham County Special Response Team was called to the scene and took Wright into custody without incident.

Wright was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center. He’s charged with Battery under the Family Violence Act, Cruelty to Children First Degree under the Family Violence Act, Obstruction of an Officer, and Aggravated Assault under the Family Violence Act.
