Alto hosts annual Spring Fling this Saturday, June 2

It’s rained for the better part of two weeks here in Habersham and the town of Alto is hoping for a break this weekend to usher in some springtime fun.

The town is scheduled to hold its Annual Spring Fling Parade and Festival from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 2.

The festival will feature live music, arts & crafts and food vendors, raffles, and children’s activities.

“This will be our 15th Annual Alto Spring Fling Parade and Festival and is a time of great fun, food and fellowship,” says Alto’s Chief Financial Officer Lisa Turner.

Event schedule

A parade will kick off the day-long event starting at 10 a.m. from the Alto Police Department. It will travel south on Gainesville Highway to City Hall where the festival will take place.

The festival will kick in immediately after the parade. That’s when judging will take place for the tractor contest, car show and float contest.

Alto will also honor its Town Residents of the Year.

Three bands are scheduled to perform throughout the day. Titus Moss and Heavens Rhythm will perform starting at 11 a.m. followed by the John King Band at noon. The Joe Olds Band is scheduled to take the stage around 2 p.m.

“There will announcements and raffle giveaways all day so it (concert schedule) will be a close estimate, give or take a few minutes,” says Turner.

There’s no rain date. Turner and other event organizers are being very optimistic about the weather. “We believe that the weather will clear up until maybe only late evening showers plus, we have a lot of tents,” she says.

The raffles prizes that are being given away are for adults and children. There will be a few grand prizes awarded that you must be present to win.

Turner extends an open invitation to the community. “We invite everyone to come on out and enjoy!

Alto City Hall is located at 162 South Grant Street. The Alto Police Department is located at 4086 Gainesville Highway.
