Alma Lynn Savage, age 79, of Clarkesville, passed away at home, surrounded by family, on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
Born on April 4, 1945, in Salina, Utah, he was the son of the late Don Henry Savage and Lillie Anderson Savage. Alma Lynn was small in size but large in love and acceptance. He especially loved his family. On August 3, 1974, he married Georgia Lyn “Jo” Gunn and was sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 8, 1975. They would have celebrated 50 years together on August 3 of this year. He will be remembered as a great father and grandfather. Alma Lynn will also be remembered as a great friend and leader. He was actively involved in his hometown of Antimony, Utah, where he served as Mayor, among other roles. He enjoyed working and being outdoors and was known to be a great farmer, dairyman, and rancher. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially rodeos. Incidentally, he met his wife at a rodeo in Panguitch, Utah. He also served a mission in Alaska and British Columbia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia Lyn “Jo” Gunn Savage.
Survivors include children, Rodney K. Gunn (Melissa) of Clarkesville, Jolyn Savage of Clarkesville, Norma Mahi (Nephi) of St. George, Utah; sister, Kathleen Campbell of Santa Clara, Utah; sister-in-law, LuWanna Savage of St. George, Utah; grandchildren, Ryan Gunn (Kristen), Courtney Payne (Derek), Justin Gunn (Aspen), Nicole Mahi, Nathaniel Mahi, and Nolan Mahi; seven great-grandchildren and two on the way.
Funeral services are at 11 am on Friday, September 27, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 205 Dennis Cash Road, Mt. Airy, Georgia 30563, with Bishop Layne Mitchell officiating.
Interment will follow at 3 pm on Friday, September 27, 2024, in the Godbee-Godby Family Cemetery, 5640 Old National Highway, College Park, Georgia 30349.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at the funeral home.
