A 20-year-old Clayton man is charged with trafficking methampehatmine following his arrest in Clarkesville.Cody Ira Harkins was arrested last week in connection with an investigation by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).
A media release from ARDEO states, “Vigilant Deputies, following up on suspicious activity in the area of 5000 Talmadge Drive, Clarkesville, Georgia learned that Harkins was a Rabun County, Georgia fugitive. Deputies arrested Harkins on an outstanding arrest warrant out of Rabun County, Georgia.”
Authorities say subsequent investigation resulted in the seizure of approximately 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The estimated value of the methamphetamine is approximately $4000. Agents also recovered $606 in cash.
In addition to the trafficking charge, Harkins is charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, possession of drug related objects, and giving a false name or date of birth to a law enforcement officer.
