Three alleged drug dealers are now behind bars, the latest in a string of arrests in the ongoing drug crackdown in northeast Georgia. Agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO) teamed up with law enforcement in Rabun and Lumpkin Counties for the latest round of arrests.
ARDEO says 43-year old Joyce Winn and Thomas Fountain, both of Clayton, were nabbed as a result of an undercover drug investigation.
Task Force Agents say they seized methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and drug packaging materials from the pair. Both are charged with possession of drugs with intent to distribute. Winn faces additional charges for allegedly using her cellphone to sell drugs.
Meanwhile, a 65-year old Lumpkin County man is in jail on drug and weapons charges.
Alton Grimes of Dahlonega was arrested after officers say they seized over one pound of marijuana, scales and two guns from him while executing a search warrant. Grimes is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Agents say both investigations continue and more arrests are expected.
