It could be several weeks before a ruling is issued in the Habersham County Airport Authority lawsuit. Testimony ended on Friday.
The lawsuit was filed against the Habersham County Airport Authority and County Commission by a number of individuals and the Habersham County Pilots Association.
The suit contends that the Airport Authority allegedly held special meetings during 2014 without properly announcing those meetings to the public. The suit also maintains that the Airport Authority improperly called closed meetings to discuss a contract for an airport fixed base operator (FBO) and used private email to share records in an attempt to circumvent Georgia open records laws.
A new FBO was awarded the contract for supervision of operations at Habersham County Airport.
Habersham County Commissioners and the Airport Authority have denied the allegations.
Plaintiffs’ attorney Julius Hulsey now has 10 days to file a post-trial brief and offer a proposed resolution. Once he does that, Habersham County Commissioners and the Airport Authority will have another 10 days to respond.
Senior Judge Robert Struble presided over the week-long non-jury trial. His ruling will be issued once both sides have filed their post-trial briefs.
