Temperatures are dropping and homes are getting colder, and as many of us wait to see how long we can stand it before we turn on the heat, furry friends at the Habersham County Shelter are waiting to be adopted and are more than happy to cuddle up with you to keep warm this season.
The Habersham County Animal Shelter is experiencing severe overcrowding, and shelter animals, especially cats and kittens, desperately need loving homes. Right now, cat and kitten adoption fees are slashed down to $25. All cats and kittens adopted from the shelter are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and microchipped.
This week, Now Habersham is featuring The Fifth Element and Cinnamon, two gorgeous animals who would love to be part of your home!
Meet The Fifth Element
Meet The Fifth Element, a beautiful adult female Siamese who is looking for her home.
The Fifth Element is one of Habersham County Animal Care and Control’s more recent intakes; she was one of more than 100 cats brought in from a hoarding case. Right now, she’s a little reserved, but she’s still sweet.
“I might be a little shy right now because there’s a lot going on in my life— and in my mind,” she says. “I’ve learned that cats coming from hoarding situations are under a lot of stress, and can be unsure of their surroundings and safety. But I also know that with love and care, we overcome those hardships.”
The Fifth Element does well with other cats, after all, she’s spent her life surrounded by them. She’d like to have somewhere soft and warm to cozy up in the coming months, and a human who can be patient, gentle and kind to her while she adjusts to a life where she receives the care she needs.
“I do like cheek scratches, and I would love to rest on a warm bed,” she says. “I know that cats coming from situations like mine aren’t always easy to handle, which can be discouraging. I hope someone hears my story and decides to give me a chance.”
Meet Cinnamon
Meet Cinnamon, the cutest adult female Siberian Husky you’ll ever see.
Cinnamon was surrendered to the shelter at the end of the summer and has been waiting to find her forever family ever since.
“Being surrendered isn’t an experience any animal wants to have,” Cinnamon says. “But I’m glad it was here, where I have playtime with other dogs and get to spend time with humans who really want to help me find my home.”
Cinnamon, along with the other dogs at the Habersham County Animal Shelter, get to spend time playing outside together every day. She knows how to interact with other dogs, and gets social time with people and canines alike every day.
“I love to run, explore new places and spend time outside,” she says. “I really hope I get to find my forever family before winter gets here, I have a feeling we’ll get snow this year, and I want to play in it with my person!”
