Additional law enforcement will be on each campus in the Franklin County School System this week. The school will be open tomorrow on all campuses and with a regular schedule according to a statement released by the Franklin County School System.
On Thursday afternoon, a social media post showed two .22 caliber bullets on the bathroom floor of Franklin County High School. The School Resource Officer removed the bullets immediately and notified the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office for investigation.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has continued to review video footage to find an answer as to how the bullets came to be on the floor and to interview students about the incident.
School resource officers were notified of another potential threat unrelated to the first made directly against Franklin County High School. The GBI was notified and the threat was determined unfounded. It is under investigation as to the origin of the threat.
All Franklin County Schools were closed on Friday due to threats. Franklin County Superintendent Melanie Burton-Brown stated, “Safety continues to be our top priority. We appreciate your continued support.”
Additional law enforcement will be present on each campus on Monday, September 9, as all Franklin County Schools will be open and on a regular schedule.
