Absentee voting begins tomorrow in Habersham County. If you’re unable to get to the polls, you may apply for a paper ballot Sept. 20-Nov. 4, 2016.
“Voters who are disabled, 65 or older, working or traveling out of town, or who are in the military should request an absentee ballot by mail if they are not sure that they can make it to the polls on Election Day,” says Election Supervisor Laurel Ellison. “Otherwise, they should vote early or advance if they just prefer not to wait in long lines on Election Day.”
To request an absentee ballot application by phone, call the Habersham County Elections and Voter Registration Office at 706-839-0170. For online applications, visit the Secretary of State’s election website at https://sos.ga.gov/index.php/Elections/absentee_voting_in_georgia. Online applications should be printed, filled out and faxed to 706-754-5836 or scanned and emailed to [email protected]. You may also present your application in person
Early voting begins October 17.
If you plan to wait until election day to cast your ballot, make sure you know where to go. You may verify your polling precinct location on the My Voter Page of the Georgia Secretary of State’s website at https://www.mvp.sos.ga.gov/MVP/mvp.do.
