It was an evening of food, fellowship and thanks giving Wednesday night at First Baptist Church of Cornelia. A large crowd turned out for the 5th annual Community Thanksgiving.

“It’s kind of a mixture of those who volunteer and those who come to eat,” says FBC of Cornelia pastor Dr. Eric Spivey. “It’s just one big part of the church life and life of the kingdom and, so, we’re grateful to be able to do this.”

The annual, free dinner is sponsored by FBC of Cornelia, The Lord’s Help Soup Kitchen and eight other churches in the Cornelia area.

The early Thanksgiving dinner gave people of all ages time to pause to consider their blessings. Elsie and Denver Evans of Cornelia expressed their gratitude for friends and family. Alexis Oxner of Alto emphatically said, “I’m thankful for my family, social media, some good drinkin’ sweet tea and Jesus Christ!”

Alberto Trejo of Cornelia expressed his gratitude, as well. “I’m very thankful for this moment, and thankful for First Baptist Church. We’re so proud for this church and the community and all the things they do for us. So, thank you and God Bless!”
