The Hall County Fire Rescue responded to a barn fire at the 4700 block of Bennet Road at 4:48 p.m. on April 8.

The first crews that arrived said the barn was fully involved. Witnesses said there was a large black plume coming from the area before Hall County Fire and Rescue’s arrival.

It was reported that the barn was occupied with farming equipment and bales of hay.

No one was injured on the scene and no one was inside the barn at the time the fire broke out. The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause to be accidental. There was a small burn pile that was within 50 feet of the building.

The bulk of the fire has been knocked down. Aerial operations were used by Truck 5 to have access to the top of the hay bales. HCFR personnel are still on the scene continuing their efforts by smoldering the remainder of the hot spots.

HCFR wants to remind everyone of the importance of having a water source available when using a burn pile. When applying for a burn permit on the Hall County website, there are precautions that are listed for your safety.
