A 32-year old woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the investigation into the recent armed robbery at ABC Food Store in Cornelia. Cornelia Police Chief Chad Smith says Misty Morgan is charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal. Morgan is the fourth person arrested in the case.
20-year old Monterro Javon Johnson of Mt. Airy turned himself into Cornelia police on Dec. 16. He’s charged in a series of crimes, including the Sept. 10 burglary of ABC Food Store, the Oct. 8 burglary of Four Oaks Liquor Store in Mt. Airy and the Oct. 8 armed robbery of Lucky Gulf Gas Station in Baldwin.
Two other suspects in the Dec. 15 hold-up at ABC Food Store also are in custody. 34-year old Michael Corey Johnson was picked up by Banks County deputies the day after the robbery and 37-year old Taurus Morgan was captured in Anderson, South Carolina. He’s now awaiting extradition. Monterro and Michael Johnson are in the Habersham County jail.
Chief Smith credits Cornelia Police investigators Marian Banks and Amanda Green with the arrests. He says, “If it wasn’t for the determination that Det. Banks and Green had during this investigation, all other cases linked to their arrest would not have been solved so quickly.”
Smith also extends his appreciation to neighboring agencies in Habersham, Banks, Hall, Stephens and Anderson counties and to the Baldwin Police Department for their assistance in the investigation and arrests.
