The manhunt is over for a third suspect wanted in connection with Monday’s armed robbery of the ABC Food Store in Cornelia.
Cornelia Police Chief Chad Smith says 34-year old Taurus Morgan was captured Wednesday afternoon in Anderson, South Carolina. Two other suspects were already behind bars. Smith says 20-year old Monterro Javon Johnson of Mt. Airy was arrested and charged Tuesday and 37-year old Michael Corey Johnson was arrested earlier today by Banks County deputies in Homer, Georgia.
“The Cornelia Police Department would like express our appreciation to the public and all the local media outlets that assisted in the capture of these persons,” Smith says.
The ABC Food Store on North Main Street in Cornelia was robbed around 9:25 p.m. Monday. Police say a gunman demanded money from the clerk. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Monterro Johnson also faces armed robbery charges for the October 8 holdup at the Lucky Gulf Gas Station in Baldwin and is considered a suspect in the burglary at Four Oaks Package Store in Mt. Airy that occurred that same day.
