It may be a day late but it’s finally here…Graduation Day! Today 374 seniors from Habersham Central High School will walk across the stage to receive their diplomas. The ceremony, which was postponed yesterday due to the weather, is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at Raider Stadium in Mt. Airy.
The forecast from the National Weather Service in Greenville calls for a chance of showers before 8 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Otherwise, it should be partly sunny, with a high near 76 degrees.
As long as the weather holds the ceremony will be held outdoors. Graduates should report to the Habersham Central High School Performing Arts Center by 8 a.m. dressed and ready to go. Gates open to parents at 7 a.m.
Graduation Day road closures
Road closures will begin at 7 a.m. on Camp Creek Road from Demorest Mt. Airy Highway to 197 South. Only local traffic will be allowed. Beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Camp Creek Road will be closed from Owens Circle to Highway 197 South. No traffic will be allowed through.
As soon as graduation is over and the traffic has moved through, the roads will be reopened.
