Happy Mother’s Day!

Dear Mom,

Thank you for the time you drove 10 hours down to Florida, picked up my two toddlers, brought them back to Georgia to care for them because I was too sick to do so.

Thank you for the beautiful prom dress you made me. It was my favorite color blue and I know the material you bought was not in the budget. Thanks for buying it anyway.

Thank you for holding my horse at my horse shows even though I know you were scared to death.

Thank you for the beautiful yellow jacket you made for me with the black trim.

Thank you for sitting up with me all night when Mike Prosperi broke my heart and for telling me he’d really be sorry one day.

Thank you for making our house the place everyone liked to hang out.

Thank you for not telling dad that I didn’t eat my eggs.

Thank you for taking me to church every Sunday and making me be involved in the Youth Program.

Thank you for not letting me wear those awful short shorts I tried to talk you into.

Thank you for letting me name my daughter after you.

Thank you for taking me to Billy Shepherd’s Hair Salon at 1:00am when my failed hair dying attempt turned my hair green.

Thank you for being in labor three days to bring me into the world. I never knew how hard that was until I had to do it.

Thank you for loving my children like you loved me.

Thank you for all the hand-painted Christmas ornaments on my tree.

Thank you for listening when I went through my divorce and letting me know I could move on.

Thank you for believing in me as a writer; for loving every article I have ever written; for encouraging me to keep writing.

Thank you for dragging me to every antique shop in the world.

Thank you for teaching me no matter what happens in my life, God will make it good. Thank you for teaching me I am stronger than I know.

I’ve always known, the greatest blessing in my life came when God gave me to you.

Thank you. I have the best of the bests for a mom.

I love you!

Nora
