Motorists Should Still Plan Ahead!
The Georgia Department of Transportation says it will limit construction lane closures along the state’s highways to accommodate Easter weekend traffic. A press release from GDOT says times will vary around the state but, at a minimum, lane closures on interstate highways and state routes will be limited from 9 p.m. Friday, March 25 through midnight Sunday, March 27.
Those times will be extended in some areas.
Motorists traveling this weekend for Easter, the following two weekends for Spring Break or upcoming events like the Masters or the Atlanta Braves’ opening should find their trips less stressful thanks to the restricted lane closures.
Some work zones with permanent lane closures will remain in place and lead to delays for motorists. These projects include the Northwest Corridor Express Lanes in Cobb and Cherokee counties and I-75 South Express Lanes in Clayton and Henry counties.
