The building will be named after one of the founders an Anabaptist movement over 500 years ago, George Blaurock. Actual ground was broken a few weeks ago for the facility, and Dr, Emir Caner says things are moving quickly. Caner said “Over the next eight weeks concrete will be poured, the wall will be finished, the retention wall as high as 22 feet out there and then we’ll get the steel up in May.”

The building, when completed, will be one of the biggest facilities in the county. It will house a gymnasium, running walking track, two racquetball courts, aquatic center, student lounge on each floor and a café. And Dr Caner said, “ it’s not just for us, it’s for the community, we’ll have community memberships.” The opening date, as Dr. Caner noted, “if north Georgia weather cooperates,” will be January 2017.

Dr. Caner told the crowd, today is not the beginning of a project , but it’s a continuing of a dream that was begun on July 23,1946, Truett-McConnell College was founded. At the close of his comments Dr. Caner said, “ I want you to picture the point of this day is not a dedication of this building, it is a re-dedication of this campus to the Lord Jesus Christ. “
