Tuff Dotson sat in his NaNa’s lap outside Demorest Elementary School Tuesday grinning from ear to ear. He was there to register for kindergarten and it was obvious, this 4-year old preschooler can’t wait. “Because…because I love it!” he said referring to school.
“He’s so ready,” said his grandmother, Rosie Robinson. Pointing to her daughter Heather Dotson, she added, “She’s going to be the boo- hooer I think. Not me, I’m excited!” Tuff’s mom didn’t argue the point admitting that, while she feels good right now about sending Tuff off to kindergarten, “It might hit me later.”
This is the first time Heather has registered a child for kindergarten and she’s not alone. Parents have been enrolling their kids in the Habersham County School System all week.

Kindergarten registration began Monday at Demorest Elementary School and ended Thursday, March 17. Students who are five on or before September 1, 2016 are eligible to enroll.
If you were unable to register this week, school officials say you should call the school your child will attend in the fall and make an appointment to complete the registration process.
