Demorest, GA – Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Jim Peeples has announced the hiring of Jamie McCormack as the new Head Volleyball Coach at Piedmont College. McCormack takes over for long-time Coach Sid Feldman who led the Lady Lions for seven seasons before retiring this past November following 40-plus years on the sidelines in his coaching career overall.
“We are very happy to have Jamie McCormack joining our coaching staff as the new Head Volleyball Coach at Piedmont,” said Peeples of the new hire. “She has great Division III experience as both a coach and a student-athlete and is familiar with the collegiate volleyball landscape in our region. I’m confident that she will not only do a good job leading our volleyball team, but that she will also serve as a strong role model for the young women in our program.”
McCormack takes over a program that finished the 2015 season with an 18-15 record coming up just shy of an 11th straight 20-win season. The Lady Lions accomplished that feat in 2014 with a win in their final regular season contest to post the 10th straight such campaign.
“I would like to thank President Mellichamp as well as Coach Peeples for the the opportunity to lead this program,” said McCormack of the chance to take over the Lady Lions. “I’m very familiar with the history of success associated with this program under Coach Feldman going back to Coach Katie O’Brien as well whom I was fortunate to compete against as a player. I look forward to continuing to build on an already proud tradition, and I’m ready to get started on the court.”
A native of Mobile, Alabama, McCormack earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Huntingdon College in May of 2007 graduating Cum Laude. McCormack will begin her role with the program this month with the upcoming fall being her first season as the leader of the volleyball program sporting the Green and Gold.
