Nichols Seeks Second Term

Habersham County District 5 Commissioner, Ed Nichols, will serve as Vice-Chair in 2017.

Habersham County Commissioner Ed Nichols is seeking re-election. Nichols represents District 5. He began his first term in January 2013.

Nichols says he’s gained valuable experience over the past three years and would like to serve for a second term. A former Executive Director of the Habersham County Chamber of Commerce, Nichols points to economic development as an area of particular concern.

“We have made some progress in economic development, but there is still a lot to do in creating new jobs for our county,” Nichols writes in a press release announcing his bid for re-election. “Each year many of our high school graduates still have to leave Habersham County to seek a career elsewhere. It is important that we continue working toward obtaining new industries and businesses. In addition, we must continue working closely with our current companies to insure their success.”

Nichols says he’d like to follow through on implementation of improved management procedures for county departments and continue work in several areas that he feels will need special attention and oversight by the Commissioners in the next four years. Those areas  include: Habersham Medical Center, Habersham Airport, Habersham Industrial Park, SPLOST projects and an energy efficient annex building for all county administration offices.
