Cornelia Launches Interactive Website

Better looking, interactive and far more user friendly: Those are just a few of the ways to describe the City of Cornelia’s new website. The site launched this week after a year of planning and six months of redesign work by Civic Plus, Inc. in Manhattan, Kansas.

A press release issued by Cornelia’s Community Development Manager Jessie Owensby states, “The website now has the ability to fill out applications online in all departments, you can read agendas and meeting minutes, fill out a request for open records, and pay your utility or tax bill. You can also stay up-to-date with current events, search our staff directory, suggest new initiatives, and scroll through our photo albums. You can even check our calendar and reserve the Community House online!”

Cornelia City Manager Donald Anderson says, “This new website is bringing the City of Cornelia into a more common form of communication in our society, and it provides the city with a way to keep the public informed on everything we are doing.”

According to Owensby the new website allows the city to stay connected to its residents at all times. It links to Cornelia’s social media pages and the city’s newly expanded Nixle alert system. “The easier navigation includes “hot buttons,” which are tabs on all the pages that take you to the most frequently visited pages on the website,” adds Owensby. “This will provide the user with the ability to go straight to his/her desired destination without having to look for it.”

Anderson adds, “It provides a level of transparency that we’ve never had before, and we are better able to service all of our residents’ needs in a more efficient and faster way.”

City officials state the aim of the website is to increase community engagement and enhance communication between residents and their local government. You can access cornelia’s newly re-designed site at the old web address https://corneliageorgia.org.
