Lloyd Edward “PA” Harrison, age 87 of Gainesville, passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016.
Born in Habersham County on February 29, 1928, he was a son of the late Samuel “Sam” Idus and Pearl Morrison Harrison. Mr. Harrison was a retired vocational instructor, having taught industrial electricity at Lanier Tech for over 30 years. He was a U.S. Army Korea veteran and attended Concord Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, working and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Gloria “Nanny” Garrison Harrison, who passed away on November 10, 2015; grandson, Matthew Harrison; brother, Idus Harrison; sisters, Merle Bennett and Wynelle Shore.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Diane Harrison of Toccoa; daughter, Sheila Ross of Gainesville; 4 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are 4 pm Wednesday, January 27, 2016, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart with Rev. Mark Garrison officiating. Interment will follow in the Garrison Family Section of the Old Mud Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720, Habersham County American Legion Post # 84, Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter # 15, and the Georgia National Guard.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
