Eugene Louis “Gene” Frady

obit flagEugene Louis “Gene” Frady, age 86 of Mt. Airy, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2016..

Born in Mt. Airy, Georgia on March 2, 1929, he was a son of the late Cana Albert and Girlie Marie Dodd Frady. Mr. Frady served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict where he was in combat on the front lines. He was the recipient of two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star award. Later in life, he enjoyed being a self employed farmer and working in the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Mr. Frady was a member of the Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F.&A.M. and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two siblings.

Surviving are wife of 64 years, Evelyn Cochran Frady of Mt. Airy; sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Angela Frady of Mt. Airy and Dennis and Amy Frady of Clarkesville; grandchildren, Seth Frady, Elisabeth Frady, Bethany Frady and Sarah Frady; five siblings; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services are 2 pm Sunday, January 10, 2016, at the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Dr. Don Samples officiating. Interment will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bill Evans officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Grant Reeves V.F.W. Post # 7720, Habersham County American Legion Post # 84, Rabun County D.A.V. Chapter # 15, and the Georgia National Guard. Masonic rites will be provided by the Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #141 F.&A.M.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
