Funeral services are scheduled Friday for Clarkesville Mayor, Dr. James Terry Greene. The 53-year old Greene died Sunday following a shooting at his home.
Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a domestic disturbance between the mayor and his wife, Anne. The GBI is investigating. An autopsy was conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s Office on Tuesday. Results have not been released. “The investigation on Mayor Greene’s death remains active and ongoing,” says GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles. “At this time, autopsy results will remain held while our agents continue interviews.”
Dr. Greene practiced medicine in Habersham County for 23 years and served as Clarkesville’s mayor for 10 years. He is survived by his wife and four children.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday, December 18 at River Point Community Church in Demorest, GA. Burial will follow in the Clarkesville Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Chapel located at 5495 Highway 197 North, Clarkesville, GA.
