Dr. Octavius Mulligan has been named the new principal at the current White County Intermediate School. He was chosen for the job by the White County Board of Education. Mulligan replaces Shann Cash who’s retiring at the end of June next year.
Mulligan, a well known former Habersham County school administrator, says he’s eager to start his new job. “I’m excited about the opportunity to be working with such an awesome group of teachers,” he says. “We have a lot of work to do between now and next school year with transitioning from an intermediate school to a K-5 school.”
Dr. Mulligan previously served as assistant principal at Cornelia Elementary, South Habersham Middle and Habersham Central High School. He left Central in 2013 after seven years to become the Assistant Principal at White County High School. He held that job for a year and a half before assuming his current job as director of the White County Ninth Grade Academy.
Mulligan began his career as a teacher at White Sulphur Elementary School in Gainesville, GA.
“I’ll miss all of my high school folks,” he says, “but I’m ready to get on the carpet with my new elementary students!”
According to wrwh.com, Cash has served in the field of education for 29 years. She spent over 15 of those in the classroom. Cash was assistant principal for four years prior to becoming the principal at White County Intermediate School in 2006.
