The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has arrested a middle school teacher accused of holding a pair of scissors to a student’s throat.
The GBI charged 46-year-old Jamel Mikal Ashley of Danville with aggravated assault and cruelty to children.
The agency launched an investigation on May 12 at the request of the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office into allegations of aggravated assault between a teacher and a student at Wilkinson County Middle School in Irwinton. The school is located east of Macon.
The GBI says its investigation determined that while in a classroom, Ashley approached the student and held a pair of scissors to the student’s throat.
Ashley was booked into the Wilkinson County jail.
The GBI says its investigation is active and ongoing.
