One person airlifted to hospital after crash on Toccoa Bypass

Sunday afternoon crash causes major delays

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a Sunday afternoon wreck on the Toccoa Bypass that severely injured a person.

The wreck happened around 4:05 p.m. at the Jeannette Jamieson intersection on the Bypass at West Currahee. Stephens County deputies, state troopers, and other emergency personnel responded to the scene.

The sheriff’s office says the severely injured female was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Initial reports indicated others may have been injured.

The crash shut down one southbound lane of the Toccoa Bypass and access to part of West Currahee. Both roads reopened within an hour.

Authorities have not said what caused the crash and have not released any names. Now Habersham has contacted the State Patrol for further details. Check back here for updates.
