No foul play suspected in UGA student death

Athens-Clarke County police say no foul play is suspected in the death of a UGA student who died Monday. Police say the woman’s roommate found the 19-year-old unresponsive on April 21, called 911, and performed CPR.

The student was declared dead when Athens-Clarke County Police officers arrived at the Broad Street hotel where the two women were staying. They had temporarily relocated to the hotel while their sorority house was under renovation, according to a police report.

Police confirmed that an investigation into the student’s death is ongoing and that an autopsy is being performed, WUGA reports.

A spokesperson for the University of Georgia confirmed the student’s passing. They said her family requested that she not be included in this year’s student memorial service, held April 23.

The university says she will be remembered at next year’s service.
