A 21-year-old Gainesville man remains in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle while riding his skateboard on McEver Road Wednesday morning, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says.

Around 4 a.m., Jose Roman was in the left southbound lane of McEver Road near Waterford Drive when he was hit by a 2010 Chevrolet HHR that was also traveling south.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and called 911. Investigators determined the driver was not at fault in the collision, the sheriff’s office says.

Roman was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center with multiple injuries. Officials say he was on his way to work at the Walmart on Browns Bridge Road at the time of the accident.
