Phetsomphone “Patty” Luangkhot, age 60, of Cornelia, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
Patty was born on October 7, 1964, in Vientiane, Laos, to the late Chanephong Luangkhot (father) and Phanh Luangrath (mother). In her early twenties, she began her career as a gastroenterology nurse in Laos, dedicating herself to caring for others. In 1986, she married the love of her life, Sengdeunepheng “Sam.” Then, in 1991, she immigrated to the United States with her husband and son, Bandith. A few years later, they welcomed their daughter, Paula, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Patty spent over three decades building a life in Nevada and California before she and her husband decided to retire in Georgia. Just one week after settling in Cornelia, she was diagnosed with end-stage pancreatic cancer. Despite this devastating news, Patty faced her illness with incredible strength and grace, courageously fighting for eight months.
She took her final breath surrounded by her loved ones and will be laid to rest in her family’s mausoleum in her beloved childhood village of Ban Nongbone, Vientiane,
Laos—beside her late parents, late eldest sister, Bounsone, and late younger brother, Khamphouipheng.
Patty is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, Sam Phommounivong, of Cornelia; her children, Bandith and Paula Phommounivong, both of San Francisco, California; her sister and brother-in-law, Sengkham and Boutdy Tiamtisack, of Cornelia; her brothers, Phouvong, Inthavong, and Lakeo, of Vientiane, Laos; her sisters, Chanthavone, Saykham, and Phayngeune, of Vientiane, Laos, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
