(Cleveland)- A 22-year old woman suffered burns over the majority of her body in an incident at her home Tuesday afternoon in White County. Fire and medical personnel were dispatched to a mobile home at 15 Purple Star Lane around 2pm.
Robert Gaddis provides maintenance service for several mobile homes located at that address, he was near where the incident occurred and heard the victim scream. Gaddis said when he got to the victim she told him her home was on fire, so he went inside the mobile home. “ it was just fire everywhere, little spot here and little spot there. I put most of it out with my foot and the rest of it I put it out with my hand,” Gaddis said.
The woman was transported to the Burn Center at Grady Hospital in Atlanta by White County EMS ambulance. State Fire Investigator Brian Smith was called to the scene he worked along with White County Sheriff’s office investigators looking for the origin of the fire.
Late Tuesday Captain Tim Chapman with the White County Sheriff’s office said the state fire investigator determined the fire occurred from a possible LP gas leak that was ignited by the pilot light of a stove, causing a flash fire. The extent of injuries to the victim is not known, but according to information on scene she suffered at least first and second degree burns.
