CLEVELAND, Ga. –  United Way of White County has awarded funding to 10 local not-for-profit agencies totaling $80,000. These agencies work every day, providing vital human services to White County residents.

United Way held an allocation ceremony on Feb. 27 at the Roy Ash, Jr. Community Room in Cleveland. Lauren Williams, President of United Way of White County, said being able to allocate these funds was made possible by the generous community donations.

“It’s been a wonderful goal that we set, and we were able to share this with our community members and all the people that worked so hard to make all of these agencies be what they are,” Williams said.

Agencies receiving funding include: Catalyst Christian Learning Center, Circle of Hope, Community Helping Hands Clinic, Enota CASA, Family Promise of White County, White County Caring & Sharing, White County Family Connection, Rape Response, South Enota Child Advocacy  Center, and  White County 4H.

The largest fundraising endeavor each year for United Way is the annual Darrel Chaney Invitational Celebrity Golf Tournament. Chaney was on hand at the allocation event to provide an update on the tournament, which will be held April 13-15 in Helen.

This year, United Way volunteers will be looking at improving fundraising efforts with different events and expanding individual contributions through the payroll deduction program.
