The Baldwin Water Department has restored service to all its customers affected by Tuesday’s water main break. A city spokesperson says the boil water advisory remains in effect for all previously affected locations until further notice.
The break, which was discovered Tuesday at the intersection of US 441 and Willingham Avenue, affected much of Baldwin, including the Willingham Avenue corridor and all Banks County customers served by the city’s water system. The outage impacted hundreds of people. Most customers were without water on Wednesday and Thursday as crews worked to repair the break.
The lines were re-pressurized overnight Thursday.

Water samples are being tested to determine if the break contaminated Baldwin’s water lines. Depending on the outcome of those tests, the boil water advisory will be extended or lifted. Until then, water customers whose service was disrupted are advised to boil tap water before drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food with it. Bring water to a rolling boil for at least two minutes.
