An explosion at a residence in Towns County killed a man early Sunday morning, according to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office.
The Towns County Sheriff’s Office and fire department responded to the explosion on Brown Circle in Young Harris just after 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 23.
Upon arrival, investigators from the sheriff’s office and the State Fire Marshal’s office determined the blast at the residence led to the death of Thomas Marcell.
The incident, which remains under investigation, is suspected to have been caused by a faulty gas leak, according to authorities. The investigation is ongoing.
