Three-truck collision sends several to hospital

Three trucks collided on Royston Highway in Hart County early Sunday morning and sent several people to the hospital, according to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred just after 5:40 a.m. near the intersection of Seed Cleaner Road and involved two semi-trucks and a pickup truck on Sunday, Feb. 23.

According to preliminary reports from the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, a westbound pickup truck failed to maintain its lane, striking an eastbound semi-truck. The collision caused the semi-truck to cross into oncoming traffic, where it collided with another semi-truck. The second truck then overturned onto its driver’s side.

Emergency responders with multiple agencies arrived on the scene, and the drivers of the pickup truck, the first semi-truck, and the second semi-truck were all transported to AnMed Medical Center in South Carolina.

None of the occupants sustained life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.

The Georgia State Patrol took over the investigation, and Royston Highway was temporarily closed while first responders worked to clear the scene.
