MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Piedmont men’s basketball concluded the regular season at Huntingdon Friday evening with a 94-84 loss. The Lions now await the seeding for the CCS Tournament which is slated to begin with first round match-ups on Tuesday.
The Lions were never able to claim the lead in this one as Huntingdon secured the lead less than two minutes into the contest. The Hawks used a 12-2 run midway through the first half to open up the game and make it a double digit lead, 29-16.
Piedmont hung tough and cut the lead back down to five just before the half, but a late 3-pointer by Huntingdon made it 50-42 at the break.
Huntingdon maintained a double-digit lead through much of the second half, leading by as many as 15 with 10:48 remaining. At that point, Piedmont used a 7-0 run to cut to it 70-62, and later a Fisher Darden 3-pointer would make it a seven-point game.
That was the closest the Lions would come in the final minutes though as Huntingdon’s lead was too much to overcome.
Up next, Piedmont will await seeding for the upcoming CCS tournament.
