White County’s Emergency Management Agency has teamed up with the school system to create a new partnership aimed at equipping families with the necessary information for reunification in the event of a disaster.
White County’s EMA division recently collaborated with the schools to host the specialized training session and tabletop exercise focused on school reunification planning on Friday, Feb. 14.
The session, held at the White County School System, brought together local school administrators, emergency management personnel, fire services and law enforcement officials.
The training focused on developing effective strategies for reuniting students with their families after a major event, such as a natural disaster or other emergencies. Participants engaged in a hands-on exercise, simulating the logistical and operational challenges of a large-scale reunification effort.
Through collaborative discussions and scenario-based exercises, the group explored best practices for ensuring both safety and efficiency during reunification processes. Officials say the insights gained will help refine the school system’s reunification plan, ensuring that it stays up-to-date and in line with current emergency preparedness standards.
