A week-long drug investigation resulted in the arrest of a Hall County man early Thursday in Habersham County.
Deputies took Jerald Dwayne Sanders into custody during a traffic stop on Feb. 13. At the time of his arrest, Sanders had two ounces of methamphetamine in his possession and several thousand dollars in cash, according to the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
Sanders allegedly traveled to Habersham County with a quantity of methamphetamine intended for distribution. Authorities believe he had been supplying large amounts of meth in Habersham and surrounding counties. Investigators described his operation as “more than a mid-level” dealer.
Deputies charged the 55-year-old Flowery Branch man with trafficking meth and multiple traffic violations, including disobeying a stop sign, defective taillights, DUI, and driving with a suspended license.
The arrest resulted from a coordinated effort by the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division and Special Operations Unit.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of Sanders’ alleged drug distribution network. As of Thursday afternoon, he remained in custody at the Habersham County Detention Center.
